Reiki can help horses in many ways. In healthy horses, Reiki helps to maintain health and vitality as well as enhancing relaxation and a sense of well-being.

For horses that are ill or injured Reiki can assist physical healing as well as provide pain relief; for example Reiki can speed recovery from tendon or ligament injury, laminitis or colic, it can also ease suffering for horses with arthritis by providing pain relief and reducing inflammation.

Highly-strung or stressed horses can benefit greatly from the soothing, calming effects of Reiki by helping them to relax and gain a sense of peace, making it particularly useful for horses who experience fear, aggression or anxiety. Because of its gentle nature Reiki can be highly beneficial for horses who have suffered abuse or emotional trauma by helping the horse to heal emotionally and spiritually.

Reiki can ease the dying process for horses through offering relief from pain, fear and anxiety. It also provides comfort and support, not only for the horse, but for it’s human companions as well.

Reiki can be given to any horse under virtually any circumstances, which means it is useful for fearful, wild or dangerous horses that cannot be approached.

How Many treatments will my horse need?

This can vary depending on the condition and length of time the condition has been present.  In some cases, one treatment can bring swift results and be all that is needed, in other cases, such as in chronic illness, or long standing conditions, several treatments may be required to improve health.

Because Reiki has a cumulative effect, I would generally recommended a course  of 4 to 6 sessions at weekly intervals.

I always give horses Reiki treatments in their own environment, as they will feel more relaxed in familiar surroundings.

IMPORTANT – Before any Reiki Practitioner can carry out a Reiki treatment on your animals, you must first seek approval from your vet. This should consist of a simple phone call, to establish that your Vet is happy for your animal to receive Reiki.

Reiki is a complementary therapy and is not intended to replace medical or veterinary care and advice.  If you have any concerns about the health of your animal you should seek advice from your Veterinary surgery.
